naeth makes his debut on new irish label move slow records following an ep release on memphis label future everything in 2017. the dublin-based producer wears his 90s and early 2000s influences on his sleeve and has delivered something truly special with this two-track house ep that journeys into breaks. produced in the middle of a rare irish heatwave, the title track poolhall lovers brims with the optimism of school day summers, while the b-side its my job veers into the more sombre side of this promising young producers talents. the release is accompanied by artwork and a series of animations by mason london (former boiler room art director).

known for releases on labels like overall music, innercircle and frole records, back to basics regular barnsley begins 2018 by returning to his vessel records imprint with big move ep . consisting of two low-slung originals, the release also includes remixes from bass culture founder d julz and cabinet records bosses cabdrivers. a compelling groove lays the foundation of time whilst quivering synths operate throughout, leading into d julz s remix that twists the original into a moody roller with tightly executed 808s at its core. forgiveness starts with clanking percussion as melodies add to the heightening atmosphere, while the cabdrivers remix takes the key elements of the original and plays with the harmonies to make them coarser.

the a-side, “flamboyant move” is a fitting nod to one of the best rappers ever, a classic sample (james gilstrap’s “move me”) cut up with boom gap drums. if l were still alive, he’d be dropping daps. the b-side is a reworking of “i don’t understand” is a massive flip of the sister sledge’s “easier to love”, moved up to a nice dance tempo, with, of course the patented dusty donuts pro-duction treatment. you’ll be dropping the needle over and over on this updated and supercharged edit. so get on the subway and take a trip from uptown to bk with this new joint from the dusty donuts crew. marc hype & naughty nmx reflip these classics in such a tasteful and dope way, your audience will love it.

it sounds ridiculous to state that this is efdemins best release so far on curle, when you realise thats the artist that brought us classics like acid bells and america... but the whole ep truly is amazing from start to finish. all tracks feature efdemins brand new second mix-album called naïf.

don’t sleep on this, as a record crammed to a brim with such insanely tight and varied material doesn’t hit the shops often. printed on a customary 180g elusive wax and limited to a measly 300 copies it won’t stay on the shelves for long and might just cause a riot! andrey burtaev is somewhat of a gleaming, speeding meteor that is about to hit our planet big and elusive records are proud to welcome him back for his second effort for the label. right from the start of the “move on dub” we are teleported to the heart of the deepest rainforest. the humid hallucinatory mist of the opening bars subversively flows into hooks laced with explosive jitters and locked-in, dubbed up tech-house beats. the jive comes in and reasserts the reggae roots so central to andrey’s music. the track is so dense with fresh ideas – it leaves you with that rare feeling of ‘not enough’.

dionne warwick is one of the most classic and iconic soul singers of all time. over her career she has recorded a string of hits and a legacy of music of outstanding quality. “move me no moiuntain” was first released in 1975 on warner brothers and has since become her most played song on the ‘modern soul’ scene. “(i’m) just being myself” comes from an earlier album (1973) produced by holland-dozier-holland’, a connoisseur soul track gaining support in recent years.

mood to move ep is a six-part musical retrospect into the work of veteran japanese house producer takecha, the little-known artist has been sporadically releasing analogue house on his own gwm imprint since the mid-90s, however trouble maker had only recently discovered his works and were dying to hear more. the music he sent was far too good to remain unheard, so we twisted the little-known maestro’s arm and managed to grab a selection of six unreleased and never before heard cuts for your audio pleasure. created between 1995-2000, these musical gems were left dormant on dat tapes in takechas basement - until now! with classic house being the flavour throughout, the high-quality production and deeply-resonant synth lines of each track leave an imprint that’s hard to forget. if this is your first time hearing takecha you certainly won’t be disappointed., released on 12 inch vinyl , shrinked wrapped

dub-stuy welcomes up and coming producer blind prophet for a conscious dub release in collaboration with russia’s tenor youthman and italy’s numa crew. long island, new york s blind prophet makes his debut on dub-stuy records alongside the vocal talents of tenor youthman , one of the founders of russia’s lion posse sound system. ‘ marijuana burns capitalism ’ is a deep and meditative social statement sure to move the dance and stimulate the heads. on ‘marijuana burns capitalism’, blind prophet lays down a solid riddim, with a deep driving bassline and a bubbly harpsichord skank, for tenor youthman to sing about the liberating properties of hemp in fighting the evils of mass production and capitalism. the result is a simple and effective cut backed by a sparse dub that lets the drums and bass roll out to full effect. the flip side sees florence’s numa crew deliver their own fire for the dance with another straight to the chest dub version that focuses on the bassline and tenor’s unique vocal style. a 12” for the massive that continues the uplifting sound system music dub-stuy is known for.

the house band of bunny ‘striker’ lee was formed in the mid-1970s by some of jamaica’s most prominent and musically expressive session players. the shifting core line-up spun off from the soul syndicate and thus typically featured earl ‘chinna’ smith and tony chin on guitar and bernard ‘touter’ harvey on organ. carlton ‘santa’ was the main drummer, but carlton barrett of the wailers band and ‘benbow’ creary were sometimes featured. most crucially, on bass, aston ‘family man’ barrett shifted to fully fullwood (and occasionally, earl ‘bagga’ walker), until robbie shakespeare took over, becoming the bandleader. the band was responsible for the popular ‘flying cymbal’ style that took jamaica by storm, and you can hear it in abundance on this killer dub set from 1975, its excellent cuts of cornell campbell and johnnie clarke material mixed at king tubby’s studio - a must for all serious fans of dub.

on 7th august the godfather mike dunn presents an ep fuelled by a pumping heart of pure house, entitled ‘dj beat that shhh’ / ‘move it work it’. taken from his forthcoming album due for release in october 2017. both tracks capture mike’s essence, placing his trademark hip house booty style vocals and stripped-back, jacking drums centre stage. ‘dj beat that shit’ is classic, bumping 90s chi goodness updated with modern technology, whilst ‘move it, work it’ is a no-nonsence smoke and strobe throbber, that recalls the best of trax and dj international. for anyone who knows their shit, mike should need no introduction, but for those that don’t, he was highly influential in birthing the modern day dance music phenomenon, especially with tracks like ‘face the nation’, ‘god made me phunky’, ‘let it be house’ and ‘personal problem’. mike created hip house, dj’d with fellow legends ron hardy, larry heard and armando gallop, produced for house heroes armando, fast eddie and k-alexi shelby, and worked with the iconic voices of byron stingley and kym english. after a long absence from djing in europe, mike returned in 2015 to rock crowds at panorama bar, fabric, concrete, sub club and glastonbury, demonstrating why the chicago og is still very much in demand.

after some excellent digital releases on editorial and ism as well as a fantastic remix of kraak & smaak on jalapeno as one half of allovers we are very happy to release i gemin s debut vinyl ep on pressed for time entitled the let s move ep , it features two superb deep house numbers in the trademark i gemin style - chunky, hypnotic and soulful. we were big fans of both tracks here at pft hq so we got head honchos yse and goshawk on remix duties. yse reversions it s about trust in a tougher, trackier style with some mood ii swing-esque spoken word vocal on the flip goshawk gets his talons into let s move upping the tempo slightly and adding a bumping bassline whilst keeping the soulful vibe intact.
